Waterproof hearing aids

Water is no worry with our large selection of tough and durable devices.

Don’t sweat wet

Ever turned on the shower, splashed in a pool, been caught in the rain, or worked up a sweat while wearing your hearing aids?

Join the club. Thankfully, Starkey has waterproof hearing aids built to withstand those “oops” moments and not let surprises get in the way of living a full, active life.

If you live or play near water, reside in humid climates, perspire easily, or have on occasion forgotten you’re wearing hearing aids, waterproof hearing aids are for you.

The way waterproof is determined

To call our hearing aids waterproof, they must meet industry technical standards—and ours do. Most electronic devices today are given an Ingress Protection (IP) rating. Developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission, this IP rating grades “the resistance of an enclosure against the intrusion of dust or liquids.”

Starkey’s waterproof hearing aids have all earned an IP rating of 68, meaning they’re “dust tight” and “protected against the effects of continuous immersion in water.” But to earn the term, “waterproof,” we test our rechargeable devices beyond IP68 ratings, ensuring they can meet whatever life throws at them.

How waterproof are they?

While our waterproof hearing aids are designed to repel water, sweat and dust, you still should not swim in them. They’re likely to fall off and wouldn’t be comfortable worn under water. Always avoid intentional or prolonged water exposure.

But if you do accidently wear them in the shower, jump in water, or drop them somewhere wet, there is no need to panic. Instead, you can stay active without the worry, enjoy durability for the unexpected, and be confident knowing your hearing aids are capable in any climate.

All rechargeable Omega AI+, Edge AI and G Series AI hearing aids are waterproof.

Our waterproof hearing aids have not only earned an IP rating of 68 but also have undergone aggressive accelerated aging testing to ensure they’ll function the same on day one as day 1,000.

Swimming while wearing any hearing aids is never recommended.

Water resistant hearing aids are able to resist moisture from light sweat and occasional splashes of water, but aren’t built as watertight or corrosion-proof as waterproof hearing aids.
